Dr. Wael Barsoum is an accomplished healthcare executive, board-certified orthopedic surgeon, academic leader, and biomedical innovator. As President and Chief Transformation Officer of Healthcare Outcomes Performance Company (HOPCo), he oversees national expansion, enterprise strategy, and clinical transformation across HOPCo’s rapidly growing partnerships with health systems, payors, and physician practices nationwide. 

Before joining HOPCo in 2020, Dr. Barsoum served as CEO and President of Cleveland Clinic Florida, where he led a regional healthcare enterprise that spanned from Fort Lauderdale to Florida’s Treasure Coast. Under his leadership, Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital earned three consecutive #1 rankings by U.S. News & World Report in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale metro area and saw exponential expansion and improved performance. He also oversaw the integration of Martin Health and Indian River Medical Center into a unified regional system, helping to expand Cleveland Clinic’s footprint while advancing operational and clinical performance. 

Dr. Barsoum has performed thousands of joint replacement procedures and is nationally recognized for his contributions to orthopedic surgery, innovation, and health system leadership. He holds more than 50 patents for medical devices and techniques, and has received numerous awards, including the Cleveland Clinic Sones Award for Innovation and ten Cleveland Clinic Innovations Awards. 

An active academic and recognized thought leader, Dr. Barsoum has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications, contributed nine textbook chapters, and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Hip Surgery. He is a member of the prestigious Hip Society and Knee Society and continues to advise national organizations and boards on healthcare transformation, value-based care, and orthopedic innovation. In addition, he serves as a reviewer and associate editor for multiple leading orthopedic journals. 

Dr. Barsoum earned his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Cleveland Clinic. He previously held the Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Distinguished Chair in Healthcare Administration at Cleveland Clinic and maintains a strong presence in clinical practice, research, and national policy leadership and is an active member of the Florida Board of Medicine.
